A regular feature that originated from the illustrious Norm Neill, to encourage the sense of community among poets and the poetry-appreciation community. Sunday 4 June, 2:00PM - 3:30PM - Poetry Sydney will present My Mayakovsky with Professor Ekaterina Escobar and Tatiana Bonch-Osmolovskaya.  Tuesday 6 June, 5:30PM - Black Rhymes Aboriginal Poetry Night Open Mic. award-winning Aboriginal poets Ali Cobby Eckermann, Uncle Ken Canning (Burraga Gutya), Lorna Munro, Elizabeth Jarrett, and installation poetry from Alison Whittaker and Kirli Saunders.  Tuesday 13 June, 7:00PM - June Poetry Night at Sappho. On the second Tuesday of June, the poetry night at Sappho will feature poets from a new anthology, Shaping the Fractured Self: Poetry of Chronic Illness and Pain, edited by Heather Taylor Johnson (published by UWAP). Guest poets include Peter Boyle, Kristen Lang, Margaret Owen Ruckert, Beth Spencer and Heather Taylor Johnson. There will also be the usual open mic section. Drinks and tapas at the bar. Thursday 15 June, from 6:30pm - Poets at the Petersham Bowl -  an evening of open mic performance - mainly poetry, though other forms (such as short story, anecdotes, comedy, acoustic music) are also welcome. The overriding purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity for people to share their writing (or others' writing which they really love) before a receptive audience in a place with a strong sense of community feeling. Petersham Bowling Club, 77 Brighton St Petersham. Bar and bistro open. Free admission.
