At Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School we come together as followers of Christ, ensuring quality teaching and learning so all children reach their full potential. The school was established in 1858 and is a single stream school with a large indigenous population and a mixture of other cultural backgrounds. ESL, Reading Recovery and Special Education Programs provide for students with identified specific learning needs and a differentiated curriculum caters for all ranges of ability within the classroom setting. Since 2005 our school has initiated a 'Leadership for Reconciliation' Program where a group of the Mount Carmel students join with students from Sacred Heart, Mosman to visit significant Indigenous Songlines in Central Australia. The school has pioneered a Career's Lighthouse program for our Year 5 and 6 students which provides information about what is possible and the importance of goal setting. We commit to working in harmony with each other and the wider community. We continue to assist our children in striving to make a difference in our world.
