Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre

Poets Johanna Featherstone and Gareth Jenkins will take Unlocked workshops to Silverwater Women's Correctional Centre for the first time. Fostering literacy and positive creative expression through poetry, the program will support 12 women to create, edit and produce their own print anthology of poems.

Adam Pettet will present a series of Poetry Object workshops to over 200 students of North Lakes State College.

With activities inspired by our new free Poetry Object learning resource, students will write poems inspired by their favourite objects while embarking on a thought-provoking writing journey relating to themes of resistance.

ELB Education Digital Poetry Object Workshop

The Red Room and ELB Education will present a free poetry and creative writing workshop for primary school students. This workshop coincides with The Red Room Poetry Object, where students are inspired to write about a talismanic object. Educator Lilly Blue will lead the workshop.

ELB Education Professional Development Workshop

Red Room Company educator Lilly Blue will lead two professional development workshops for teachers, facilitated by ELB Education. The workshops will teach strategies for teachers to better engage students with poetry, creative writing and imaginative thinking.

Caroline Chisholm School Workshop 2016

Renowned poet Zenobia Frost will be workshopping at Caroline Chisholm School to coincide with Red Room Poetry Object.  Students involved will learn to engage with poetry, and also write some of their own, inspired by a talismanic object dear to them.

South Coast Correctional Centre 2016

Poet and hip hip artist Nick Bryant Smith (a.k.a SOLO of Horrorshow) will head to South Coast Correctional Centre for an intensive series of Unlocked workshops focusing on poetry through the lens of rap, lyrics, performance and recording.

Geek After Dark Event

Australian Slam Poetry Champion Zohab Zhee Khan will be performing at Hurstville Library as part of the August edition of the Geek After Dark event. The celebrated poet will perform some of his work, and also delve into tales about his life as a Pakistani-Australian.

Eric Avery at Sutherland Shire Library
