Silvereye

unblinking eye
looking out toward forever
the birdbath is reflective
high on stand

in its gaze
beaks dive and drink
each brief life     entering into
its vision

between the immense
and this moment
such a brief
and tender whispering

where in listening
I see
I am already water
become each beak.
