Annaliese Porter has been writing poetry since she was five. Her poem "The Outback" won a poetry prize at the Gunnedah Eisteddfod and was later illustrated by Bronwyn Bancroft and published by Magabala Books in Australia. A then ten year-old Annaliese was invited to contribute a poem to the Fingerprints project and perform her work at the Sydney Writers Festival in May, 2004.

In the clear white light,
Gets ready for stalking,
To catch its awaited prey, the wolf hidden
By the night.
