Jane Gibian

Jane Gibian is a Sydney poet whose first collection, The Body’s Navigation, was published in 1998. She was an Asialink Literature Resident in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2002, and a chapbook of haiku, long shadows, was published with Vagabond Press. Her most recent collection of poetry, Ardent was published in 2007 with Giramondo. Jane works as a high school librarian and ESL teacher, and studies Vietnamese.Jane featured on Red Room Radio in 2003 and in the literary TV series 'The Wordshed' in 2006.  Listen to an interview with Jane and hear her read the poem created for the Red Room Remains - Sustainable Sydney' project.

The city is like an overcrowded brain
So we use autopilot in our electric car,
Then sit back to relax and dream.
Solar energy powers the city lights
And we have sight in the darkest times.
