Steve Dibirdi Hodder-Watt Bunbajee is a Lardil man with English heritage and has been writing poetry and spoken word rhymes in Mparntwe / Alice Springs since 2000. He has performed and spoken at events including the National Young Writers’ Festival, Melbourne Emerging Writers’ Festival, Wordstorm NT Writers’ Festival and has also worked on poetry and hip-hop in remote Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory and Queensland, including Aurukun, Doomadgee, Warakurna, Warburton, Warnan and Mparntwe. After 30 years on Central Arrernte Country, in 2015 he returned to the sea-country homelands of the Lardil peoples on the Aboriginal island Gununa, known colonially as Mornington Island.
