'how the stars sette on the sacred ceiba'
~ Maria Takolander
Created by Red Room Poetry, New Shoots celebrates and cultivates poems inspired by plants and place to deepen cultural connections with nature. Stemming from the success of New Shoots NSW, we partnered with Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and Australian Poetry to grow a new garden of poems.
New Shoots Victoria commissioned 10 poets including Bruce Pascoe, Maria Takolander, Bonny Cassidy, Autumn Royal, Ryan Prehn, Elena Gomez, Duncan Hose, Chris Wallace Crabbe, Carissa Lee Godwin, and Cameron Lowe to create a series of poems that respond to sites, spores, histories and seeds across Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. Poems have been performed, shared on seed packs and 'planted' in the gardens.
