New Shoots celebrates and cultivates poems inspired by plants and place to deepen creative and cultural connections with nature. Stemming from the success of New Shoots NSW, we're partnering with Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and Australian Poetry to grow a new garden of poems.
In 2017, New Shoots will commission 10 x Victorian poets including Bruce Pascoe, Maria Takolander, Bonny Cassidy, Autumn Royal, Ryan Prehn, Elena Gomez, Duncan Hose, Chris Wallace Crabbe, Carissa Lee, and Cameron Lowe to create a series of poems that respond to sites, stems, seeds and spores across Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. Poems will be recorded, performed, shared on seed packs and 'planted' in the garden throughout the year.
2-16 March 2017: In collaboration with the Art & Herbarium: Creative Ecological Investigations project, the first of our New Shoots Victoria commissioned poets, Bonny Cassidy, exhibited a new series of poems inspired by her residency in the Melbourne University Herbarium. Exhibition details »
