'how the stars sette on the sacred ceiba'
~ Maria Takolander
New Shoots celebrates and cultivates poems inspired by plants and place to deepen creative and cultural connections with nature. Stemming from the success of New Shoots NSW, we're partnering with Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and Australian Poetry to grow a new garden of poems.
New Shoots Victoria is commissioning ten poets including Bruce Pascoe, Maria Takolander, Bonny Cassidy, Autumn Royal, Ryan Prehn, Elena Gomez, Duncan Hose, Chris Wallace Crabbe, Carissa Lee Godwin, and Cameron Lowe to create a series of poems that respond to sites, spores, histories and seeds across Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria. Poems will be recorded, performed, shared on seed packs and 'planted' in the garden throughout the year.
3 September 2017: Red Room Poetry in partnership with Australian Poetry, Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and Melbourne Writers' Festival invites you to join ten of Australia’s most spirited poets for a poetic walking tour and afternoon tea in the Gardens. Featuring poets Bruce Pascoe, Maria Takolander, Bonny Cassidy, Autumn Royal, Ryan Prehn, Elena Gomez, Duncan Hose, Chris Wallace-Crabbe AM, Carissa Lee Godwin, and Cameron Lowe.
