The Old Darlington School, Redfern

Over 120 folks were invited into the Old School to see the project poets perform, to grab popcorn and snacks, and see an obscure sixties poetry reel, and view the moving image adaptations of the ten commissioned poems.

10 poets from around the country were engaged to write a poem inspired by the project title - 'the picture show' - and to explore poetry's relationship to film, cinema and moving images. Ten moving image adaptations accompany the poems and the content of these mini motion pictures are driven by the poems and poets' landscapes, and filmed by a crew in Sydney, in collaboration with the poets. The images were shot by Michael Pickells, edited by Remi Luxford and the soundtrack created by Elliott Wheeler.
