Poetry Object, 2018
Founded in 1886, MLC School is an Independent Girls’ School of the Uniting Church in Australia. MLC School’s mission is to educate young women to be fearless thinkers with moral courage and compassion, to be agents of change in their own lives and the lives of others.
Students create poetry about their special objects, guided by poet Toby Fitch and in conjunction with their current unit of study: celestial space.
Students will create unique poems based on their own objects. They will then submit their poems to Poetry Object, to be published in the digital library.
Toby Fitch is poetry editor of Overland, a sessional academic in creative writing at the University of Sydney, and organiser of the poetry night at Sappho Books in Glebe, Sydney. His books include Rawshock, which won the Grace Leven Prize for Poetry 2012; Jerilderies; The Bloomin’ Notions of Other & Beau; ILL LIT POP; and, most recently, Where Only the Sky had Hung Before (Vagabond Press 2019). He lives in Sydney.
