The School

Bondi Beach Primary School was established in 1923. It is a dynamic community school in a cosmopolitan beach side area. The beach is a focal point for many learning activities in Art, Science, Sport and for social activities. The school's vision is that our learning community work together within a safe supportive and educationally stimulating environment to support students to achieve their personal best. We focus on excellence in educational outcomes, by providing quality educational programs, that encourage a life long love of learning. We are committed to supporting student well-being and encouraging our students to be socially and environmentally responsible, global citizens. We also have a strong focus on developing student leadership skills. Our highly qualified, dedicated and caring staff, is committed to providing a quality education for all students. We have specialist staff in Technology, Art, Dance, Music and Languages Other Than English.

The Project

It’s the second year Red Room Poetry is collaborating with the annual outdoor art show. Sydney poet Toby Fitch led workshops for year 4-6 students from Bondi Beach Public School encouraging them to explore and engage with the sculptures at Marks Park to create and perform their own poetry. The Poet

Toby Fitch

Toby Fitch is poetry editor of Overland. His books include Rawshock, which won the Grace Leven Prize for Poetry 2012, Jerilderies and, most recently,The Bloomin’ Notions of Other & Beau (Vagabond 2016). He lives in Newtown, Sydney, where he works as a freelance editor, an events organiser, a researcher, a teacher of creative writing, & etc.
