Stained Glass as Memorial

The dead return as formal saints

(their earthly poses

leaded together) kitted out with

robes, cloaks, haloes.

Their sponsors leave a name but know

how fire can transform sand,

how light can fire

the dullest glass,

how the air relights and colours

at the sun’s touch.
