Interior, Arensbergs’ Apartment, New York

The body edges against its tensions
each motion captured disrupting the rhythms
as ambiguous sinew stretches out and over
in that frenetic gesture of human autonomy

Static passages cascade above the bather
as patterns shift to caress bronzed barrier
delicately cloistered and pinned somewhere
in the spiralling surrounds of domesticity,
how imperfect architecture holds up a home

In response to Charles Sheeler's ‘"Interior, Arensbergs" Apartment, New York’, After May 1919.
