On the Road of Life

By Darren S.

On the road of life
Just a youngn
I came upon a fork
I took a left
When I should “a” went right
Met a white lady
One cold rainy night
Hadn’t a clue of what lay ahead
Looking back now
I would have been better of dead
She had a vice like grip
And wouldn’t let go
Thought life was good
But what did I know
Couldn’t shake the monkey on my back
At times I didn’t want to
Just stating a fact
Lost my best friend George
Some thought a lost cause
Something inside me made me pause
Twas the voice of my saviour
Jesus Christ our Lord
