Mallee love poem

We came to the mallee in spring
When dawn and dusk light shone
And the scent of the seasons
Blew warm in the soft spoken wind
We heard the honeyeaters fighting
Over the blossom that burst bright
We had all the hopes that we needed

Send me a scene from a dream
And I’ll catch your hand at the table
Sleep happy and believe in me
And lean your love on my shoulder
