A man died in the rock pool today

                             Next to me

He was right next to me, swimming laps

                                     And he died

So simply, wallowing gently in the clear salt water

                                           We all love so much

Blue eyes staring up to the blue sky, face turning slowly

                                                In the calm salt water

His flesh felt as if it had already become part of the sea, sky

                                                    And the cool salt water

Pulling him from the pool, others swooped to save him

                                                        Force his heart to beat

Fellow swimmers, agreed that we would prefer to die so well

                                                           And continued our swim

Paying homage to his spirit, feeling glad he had a good death

                                                              In the sweet salt water
