God's Country

Bernardine H.

Kings and pawns side by side
How common it all seems
Young and old
Rich and poor
All bathing in this golden sun
This luscious green rainforest
These golden sands….
Tattoo parlours, fine dining
Next door
Movie stars and drunken bums
Hippies dancing in the street
buskers playing for something to eat

The most eastern point of our land
where a lone lighthouse stands
shining bright out to sea.
Beckoning the travelers from afar
To come join us in this wondrous place.
To live the dream
that only Byron Bay brings.
