Each thread is its own story
every woman woven
is first a lonely particle

~ from 'Threading Battle Lines' by Candy Royalle

Ignite your senses with poetic performances that reimagine The lady and the unicorn tapestries.

These rare medieval tapestries have long inspired writers, from George Sand to Rainer Maria Rilke. Poetic Threads continues this literary tradition with three newly commissioned poetic responses from celebrated performers Mirrah, Candy Royalle and Scotty Wings.

Poetic Threads is incredibly special to us as it was the most recent project of many that we had the privilege to work on with the late Candy Royalle.

For three performances during Sydney Writers' Festival, audiences were invited to peer through the poetic lens of medieval myth, magic and mystery of The lady and the unicorn. Mirrah, Candy and Scotty invited audiences into an intimate woven world of the tapestries—the first time they have been interpreted through the voices of Australian poets.
