Congratulations to all poets! In 2019, Poetry Object reached 240 schools and 414 classrooms across Australia and New Zealand. Students and teachers discovered new ways to write poems about objects they hold dear, and submitted over 2350 poems.

Red Room Poetry Object is Australasia’s largest free poetry-writing competition for young people, with over $10,000 in prizes to be won! Poetry Object ignites imaginations by inviting young writers (Years 3-10) and their teachers to create poems inspired by treasured, curious or talismanic objects.

Our 2019 commissioned poets were Stuart BarnesClaire G ColemanArielle CottinghamPola FanousEleanor JacksonBenjamin LairdJacqui Malins and Zech Soakai. This year's judge was award-winning poet Emilie Zoey Baker.

Poems to Share II 

Inspired by original poems from Poetry Object, Poems to Share II is an EPAA award-winning interactive classroom resource designed to enliven poetic learning through language, literature and literacy, created in partnership with AATE.
