Artists only eat their replicas
when disturbed, fearing for the original’s life.

~ from 'Bottlerack' by David Stavanger

Red Room Poetry, in partnership with Art Gallery of NSW present Punch Lines: Poets Play Duchamp, a series of poetic provocations to the pioneering art of Marcel Duchamp for Sydney Writers' Festival.

On display and performed live, six poets respond creatively to the artistic giant of the 20th century who ushered in an age of conceptual art. Discover these absurdist poetic interventions and new perspectives, appearing in the guise of museum labels as part of The Essential Duchamp exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW.

Drawing on the artist’s witty subversion of ‘high art’ and love of wordplay, the poems will be performed with host David Astle for one night only, live at the Gallery as part of Art After Hours.
