Not all heroes wear capes,
Some don’t even have a costume,
Or a mask,
Or any powers at all.
Some heroes look like you and me,
They walk down the same plain streets,
Hearing the same heavy news,
Thinking the same loud thoughts.
Not all heroes wear capes.
I wear a scarf.
A rainbow hug
A floral kiss
A wisp of fabric
The softest shield
To protect from the hate that flies, and burns, and scars.
I wear it and I
Am
A superhero.
