The crescent rose high above me,
The first of the heavens were revealed,
And the trees bowed low beside me,
And I was all alone.
Though the darkness seemed to press me,
My courage lit the way like a burning lamp,
For I knew that amongst the trees,
My friend awaited me.
I walked on alone on that winding path,
And lo and behold I heard
The soft dim sound of graceful power,
And out of the shadows there burst a beast,
A horse named Pride and Joy.
He was a shadow amongst shadows,
But the light of my heart.
We were two best friends together,
All alone at last.
My life was flashing before me,
All of my endeavours,
For one sole purpose.
My lifelong dream was standing beside me,
And that was all that mattered.
Not for the world would I trade him away.
I felt connected like never before.
It was then that I stopped and whispered,
“You are a legend, my Pride and Joy,
For you inspired me”.
