My Old Friend

It sits in the middle of my backyard
It helps me focus
I see it every morning and night
lived and survived through my
brutal kicks
Green and white with black outlining
my team colours, my favourite colours
Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring
rain or shine, it stays with me
It has a worn out look
holding its form by some pieces
of duct tape AKA, TLC
I put the backyard light on,
grab my friend and stay with him
till I’m called in.
I slowly walk around the
backyard with my friend
give him a little kick back
in the centre and then wake
up to see him tomorrow.
