When I walk in the streets of the Green Square hood,
once where old factories and warehouses stood
Fresh apartments, just ‘cause they could,
~ Green Square School, ‘Green Square, What’s Good?’ Youth Unlocked

Red Room Poetry’s Youth Unlocked program follows seven successful years of Unlocked programs in Correctional Centres.

Youth Unlocked collaborates with students, teachers and educational communities in Behavioural Intervention Centres and Juvenile Justice Centres to deepen encounters with poetry. Our learning programs connect poets with students to unlock poetic ways of seeing, writing and responding. We're committed to publishing these outcomes and providing a platform for young poets to share their work with wider audiences.

Youth Unlocked Programs

Youth Unlocked has successfully delivered workshops in Shepherds Park Juvenile Justice Centre with support from Wagga Wagga Council and at Green Square Behavioural School with support from MIRVAC and performances at the Social Corner in inner Sydney.

Positive impact

‘The students have been rhyming all the way back to school! They were very nervous and silly, but they certainly were impacted by your workshop, as they haven’t stopped thinking of rhymes since we walked out the door.’

~ Patrick Faucher, Principal at Green Square School

Support Youth Unlocked
